Host Interfaces
The automation of stock updates to your host system
eliminates the need for manual transactions which both
saves time and substantially reduces risk.
When configured to communicate with an external host
system (e.g. MRP, ERP or WMS) Ci-DMS, typically,
receives item, stock and order information and returns
stock, consumption and adjustment transactions during
relevant points of the manufacturing process (e.g.
following the dispensing of an order ingredient or the
addition of a dispensed bag). Data may either be
transferred by data files, intermediate databases or
integration of the two systems (e.g. using remote
function calls).
The Ci-DMS interface mechanism has been designed in a
generic fashion so, when developing a new interface,
only the transaction structure and associated rules
need be modified. This philosophy makes Ci-DMS
‘Host independent’ (i.e. if the host system
can send/receive data files or interface to SQL Server
then Ci-DMS can communicate with it).
Our validation team have also developed a standard
template functional specification to assist in the
process of capturing customer specific rules.
