PRESS RELEASE 15 December 2008

ACTAVIS BENEFITS FROM UPGRADE TO LATEST
VERSION OF DISPENSARY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM

Actavis Dispensary Management System

Actavis UK Ltd., Barnstaple

In 2004 the Alpharma plant in Barnstaple installed the Ci-DMS dispensary management system from CI Systems, which saved the company time and labour, as well as providing complete traceability of materials, quantities and batch data. Four years later, in 2008, the plant now owned by Actavis UK Ltd., has upgraded to the latest version of Ci-DMS.

There were several reasons behind the decision to upgrade, but some of the most important were that version 5 has advanced archiving capabilities, the new version benefits from enhanced recording and control of activities such as cleaning and balance validation and the user interface for supervisor stations is much improved.

Bill Thorne, Actavis' Technology Team Manager, explains:

"Given the excellent performance we had experienced with the earlier version of Ci-DMS, the outstanding service we have always received from CI Systems and the way Ci-DMS is closely integrated with our ERP system, there was no way we would have considered switching to another system, we had no doubts about upgrading to the latest version of Ci-DMS."

Actavis also took the opportunity to upgrade some of the associated hardware, including the printers and barcode scanners. To complete this work, the company set aside two days plus a weekend. Because this time was scheduled in advance, there was no loss of production. Bill Thorne says:

"The upgrade went very smoothly. Furthermore, despite the significant changes between versions 2 and 5, the user interface at the operator stations is virtually identical, so only minimal training was necessary."

The company is currently operating three shifts per day, with four dispensing stations and one supervisor station. Thanks to Ci-DMS, virtually all dispensing is performed with a single operator, with a second operator required to check only a very few operations.

Mr Thorne concludes:

"We have been so pleased with the system and the support from CI that we recommended Ci-DMS to a sister plant in Italy, which is in the process of implementing Ci-DMS right now."
