Isotherm studies

with the Cisorp Water Sorption Analyser

Isotherms

Water adsorption and desorption isotherms study the equilibrium water uptake as a function of water vapour pressure or relative humidity.

Results can be viewed directly as isotherms, together with the kinetic profile of the isotherm test, and data can be exported for additional analysis.

Features studied:

  • type of surface: e.g. hydrophobic, hydrophilic.
  • type of sample: deliquescent, hygroscopic, crystalline, amorphous.
  • sample changes: dissolution, hydration, crystallisation, dehydration.
  • specific surface area from BET analysis or Point B method.
  • surface pores: macropores, mesopores, micropores.
  • pore volume and size distribution from hysteresis due to capillary condensation.
  • water activity
