Vacuum Microbalances

The MK2-M5 Vacuum Head consists of a microbalance movement housed on a rigid aluminium block with a vacuum tight metal case. It can operate at high vacuum levels (10-6 torr) in controlled environments. Cl Microbalance weigh heads are specifically designed to provide accurate and sensitive measurements of weight change.

Both the sample and the counterweight are suspended from two rigid lattice arms, which allow uniform expansion at elevated temperatures. An optical position detector and a force coil attached to the arm are employed to maintain balance and produce stable, accurate results. The anodised aluminium enclosure has suitable fixing points for mounting in most applications.

PTFE Coating

The balance movement is coated with PTFE – this protects the head when it comes into contact with corrosive substances.

Fixed Temperature Control

A fixed temperature control option ensures optimum measurement accuracy on long-term experiments.
