PRESS RELEASE 4 December 2007 GLAXOSMITHKLINE USES CI TABLET/CAPSULE WEIGHT SORTER TO ENSURE TABLET QUALITY.The GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) tablet manufacturing plant in Aranda de Duero (Burgos), Spain, has recently purchased a SADE SP200 Tablet/Capsule Weight Sorter from CI Electronics. This is being used to weigh and sort a wide variety of tablets in the 300-1300mg range.
José-Horacio Herrero, the head of tablet engineering at GSK's plant, is pleased with the instrument and the service he has received from CI Electronics: "We were in a hurry and needed a good performance weigher/sorter. CI Electronics rented us an instrument and we also decided to buy a double sorter one with a very robust performance and ease of use." "From the moment we made the first enquiry, the response from CI Electronics has always been very quick, and the technical support we have received has been excellent." Batches can be check-weighed on the SADE SP200 Tablet/Capsule Weight Sorter, which has 24-hour unattended operation, to reclaim good product. Any tablets that are outside the weight tolerance are automatically rejected. The instrument is highly efficient when used within a production environment because cleaning is easy and there is no need for any change parts for tablets or capsules of different sizes. For GMP all contact parts are manufactured in electro-polished 316 stainless steel and CI provide a comprehensive documentation pack to ease the validation process. The instrument is connected to a printer via a USB cable so that detailed reports can be printed locally on plain paper. A product and limit library helps to make the SADE SP200 simple and quick to set-up and use. Calibration reports can also be output when necessary.
